Environmental issues and their fields and the importance of awareness of them have become of great importance in the world. The environment represents one of the serious issues in the modern era, if not the most dangerous at all, because of its relationship to the future of humanity and the fate of the human species.

The cases of pollution that the earth has reached as a result of the excessive use of natural resources, and the lack of rationalization of their use, and the increasing and frightening pollution that the environment is witnessing is threatening human civilization, and foreshadowing a comprehensive environmental catastrophe whose manifestations began to be manifested in the rise in the earth’s temperature, the widening of the ozone gap, as well as the crisis of  the lack of fresh water, or its pollution, and the deterioration of natural forests.

All of this requires everyone to spread awareness and culture of environmental issues and problems, and to be fully aware of what protects our environment - whether local or global - that harms it, so that we can contribute in the required manner to preserving and protecting it, as there is no normal, healthy life without a clean and pure environment.

After the industrial revolution, the world witnessed many problems that affected the environment, including the increase in the concentration of heating gases by more than a third of the natural limit, which confirmed the seriousness of the problem of global warming, which is one of the prominent problems in environmental issues, and consequently the rise in temperatures on the surface of the earth and the severe climatic changes that follow, such as:

hurricanes, droughts, floods, and the extinction of some living organisms as a result of their failure to adapt to the new prevailing weather conditions, in addition to the pollution of air, water, and agricultural land, and thus the quality of food is affected, and what follows that  of the effects on human health and safety, and this clearly indicates the greatest impact of harmful human activities on the environment, hence the necessity of spreading environmental awareness among humans to preserve the health of the environment and human being, both of which affect and are affected by the other.

A United Nations report on the environment identified four human activities and listed them as direct causes of the desertification process: the unjust use of agricultural lands, the depletion of their fertility, and early grazing;  As it results in the deterioration of the grazing vegetation cover that protects the soil, the removal of forests that stabilize the soil and preserve the places of water accumulation, wasteful irrigation, and poor drainage that leads to an increase in the salinity of agricultural lands and desertification, and therefore its damages and dangers to human life and communities.

Therefore, environmental culture has become one of the necessary and urgent human cultures in the lives of individuals and societies because of its paramount importance in the lives of all human beings, at any time and place. It was necessary for all human beings to take care of the environment in all its areas and their departments, and the sincere direction in educating community members in various possible means and the most important of these are mass media, social media, and targeting the means of socialization - especially school, family and places of worship -;  This is due to its noticeable and effective impact on the behavior of individuals within society, with a focus on awareness and conscious understanding of the required and possible methods in protecting and preserving the environment, and defending it from everything that may harm it or harm its components. Environmental culture and awareness of its components and its areas is the culture of conscience and entrepreneurs within society.
