About YIC:

Yemen Information Center (YIC) is an independent and non-partisan research and media center established in 2020. It seeks to advance knowledge on topics of sustainable peace and hope in Yemen, including rigorous information in the areas of coexistence and reconciliation for the people of Yemen and their communities abroad. The core mission of YIC is to provide the international and Yemeni communities, officials, and stakeholders working on Yemen with reliable information, news, research updates and access to Yemeni resources worldwide.  Job Description

 

Translator to Interpret written and audio materials in French, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone.

Translator responsibilities include and not limited to reading and to thoroughly understand the context of given materials, ei: Studies and Research, Scientific Papers, Press Reports, and Meeting summaries and briefing. Using specialized dictionaries, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone, and proofreading finished materials.

Ultimately, you will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

Responsibilities​

​

• Read given material and research industry-specific terminology

• Convert text (Studies and Research, Scientific Papers, Press Reports, Meeting summaries and briefing any other content provided) from Arabic into French.

• Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone.

• Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone.

• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy for (Studies and Research, Scientific Papers, and Press Reports).

• Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs.

• Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure).

• Staying up-to-date with current and new translation tools and practices.

Requirements and skills​

​

• Bachelor degree in French preferred Masters.

• Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter.

• Fluency in French in addition to Arabic as your native language

• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors

• Good knowledge of content editing tools

• Familiarity with translation software

• Time-management skills
